Rennes won 1:0 at home against Avignon. Arles was very unlucky. They were better in first part of the match. Camel Meriem showed nice passing skills, but Avignon's strikers were ineffective. Rennes thanks to former Montpellier's striker Hugo Montano took the lead. Columbian striker fired from distance well. Then Arles had another chances, but Charisteas hit the post. Later, when Arles played tried to pushed harder Rennes has some good chances, but Gyan and co were unable to convert them.
Rennes did something very, very strange in last days of transfer window - they sold their biggest star, striker Asamoah Gyan to Sunderland for 16 millions euro. But it's not over, other decent forward Ismael Bangoura was sold to Al Nasr Dubai for a 8 millions euro. Who was also able to play on wings. In last season he played 35 times, but often (14 times) he came in as a substitute or was changed in second half (18 times). But still he was able to score 6 times and collected 4 assists. In this season he showed some 2 goals despite fact that he was on the pitch only for 119 minutes. He was useful and he will be missing. Of course Rennes has still new striker Montano, but now he is their only striker (other offensive player - Briand was sold earlier)! If he lost form or will be injured who will score for Rennes? And he can easily lost his form if he realize that he is an indispensable for a team and he always will be play in first XI. Right fullback Rod Fanni is out. Left winger Marveaux back after an injury. 
Sochaux won 3:1 against Paris Saint Germain at home. PSG had some chances to open the score, but they failed to convert them. Then Sochaux scored after first dangerous counter. Goalie Gregory Coupet could do better in this one in my opinion. 6 minutes later it was 2:0 for Sochaux who fell really comfortable in counter attacks. This time Coupet was guilty for sure, he is not a youngster, he should save this one. At the end of the first half things went even worse for PSG as they conceded third goal, of course after a corner kick like in every of last 4 games. Early strike of Horau in second half was only a consolation goal for PSG as guest very unable to put Sochaux on really big pressure. Defender Faty back to the team after injury, but midfielder Nogueira and goalie Richert are still out.
Prediction: As long as Montano will be in good form Rennes should be able to win games like this. Odds are not great, I expect that they will go up on Saturday, so my pick is a Home win, but I will wait and hoping for better odds.
