Everton swoop for Senderos

Senderos, 24, was signed by the Gunners in 2003 and made over 100 appearances before going on loan at AC Milan for season 2008-2009.

"We have been negotiating with Arsenal for the transfer of Philippe," Everton chairman Bill Kenwright told his club's official website.

A fee of about £6m is thought to have been discussed for the Switzerland international.

Everton have rejected two bids, of £15m and £18m, for England defender Lescott, who reportedly held talks with Toffees manager David Moyes on Monday but did not submit a formal transfer request. If Man City buys Lescott, Everton will not have troubles funding the transfer for Senderos.
