Robin van Persie out until the end of the season

The Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will not be able to play for the rest of the season.  The initial prognosis was that the Dutch player will be missing four to six weeks of football, but secondary examination stated that an operation will be needed and his recovery will take much more time.

Arsenal manager has ruled out Robin van Persie playing again this season, but is still hoping the player will make a surprise recovery before May 2010.

This on the other hand, hints that Arsenal will probably try to sign a good forward in the winter transfer period. In recent months the club has been linked with the likes of Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux and Bojan Kircic from Barcelona.
